Our Teachers and Directors Make a Difference
Discovery is owned by a former student John Maher, and his wife, Liz Maher. John and Liz are the Directors, Administrators, and Head Teachers of Discovery since 2016. John has extensive background in biology and science, he brings all of this knowledge to Discovery's one of a kind science classes. Liz brings her years of experience as a kindergarten and first grade teacher to language, music, and art classes. Liz is a New York state certified teacher.
All teachers at Discovery Schoolhouse exceed the qualifications set forth by the Department of Education. Our teachers represent a diversity of ages and bring their own talents in music, theatre, movement and language to the Discovery community.
Mrs. Dawn
has been an incredibly valuable part of the Discovery team for 20 years. The students of Dawn's first classes at Discovery will have now graduated from college!
Mrs. Maria,
an energetic and fun loving nature enthusiast, has been teaching at Discovery for 12 years.
Mrs. Joanne, a master's degree teacher with 25 years experience as a preschool and kindergarten teacher, brings her expertise in Mathematics and Reading instruction. She has been with us for 10 years.
Mrs. Elaina, a young, fun loving teacher has been with us for 2 years now! She is finishing her masters in Early Childhood Education now.
Our newest staff members, Mrs. Pam and Miss Grace, have been with us for over a year. Mrs. Pam's gentle heart and eagerness to have fun fit right in with the students. Grace, our youngest teacher, has began college to study Early Childhood Education., fonts, font sizes and bullets.
